I live on Campus: do I have a Meal Plan?

All students residing in traditional campus housing are required to have a Platium-level Meal Plan. These campus residences include:27 Appleton, 82-85 Blake, Butler Court, Carle Hall, Fiske Hall, Holloway Hall, Hutress Hall, 361 Main Street, Monadnock Hall, Owl's Nests, Pondside 1, Pondside 3, and Randall Hall.
Students living in the apartments at Bushnell or Pondside 2 and commuters or students living locally off campus are not required to have a Meal Plan.   They may, however, select any Meal Plan option that is offered.

I live off campus; can I have a Meal Plan?

Absolutely!  You may select any Meal Plan option that we offer.  You must order your Meal Plan online for each Academic Year by completing the online Meal Plan Enrollment/Change Request.

How do I order a Meal Plan?

Students living on campus select their Meal Plan as part of the housing selection process each Academic Year.  If the appropriate plan for the housing requirement is not selected, the Requisite Meal Plan (Platinum) will be assigned.  Students living off campus must complete a new Meal Plan Enrollment/Change Request each Academic Year.  If this online request is not received, no meal plan will be assigned.

Can I change or canel my Meal Plan during the academic year?

Your Meal Plan is an annual contract that is in effect for the full academic year.  Some changes are permitted; some are not permitted or may have ramifications that are not if your best interest financially. Please refer to the Meal Plan Contract for details.  If you have questions, please stop by or contact the Owl Card Office: owlcard@keene.edu  603-358-2673.

I have some late classes and the DC is closed by the time my last class is finished. Where can I eat?

The DC is open until 8PM Monday through Thursday and until 7:30PM Friday through Sunday and Holidays.

The Hoot-n-Scoot is open Monday through Thursday until 9PM (3PM Fridays).  Platinum Meal Plans provide 5 Meals-to-Go each week that can be used at the Hoot.  Other Block Meals (Bronze, Silver, Gold) may be used at the Hoot as well.  You can also use Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars, Owl Cash, Cash, or Credit/Debit Card at the Hoot.

Plan ahead and take an extra Meal-to-Go (Platinum Meal Plans) or Block Meal (Gold, Silver or Bronze Plans) from the NOC Sizzler or the Hoot and put it in your fridge for later.  Up to two Meals-to-Go are permitted per service period and may be used at these locations.  Multiple Block meals may be used without restrictions.

Monday through Thursday in the Student Center, Lloyd's Marketplace is open until 11:30PM and Bean & Bagel Express is open until 11PM.  You'll need Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars, Owl Cash, Cash, or Credit/Debit Card at these locations.
Tuesdays through Sunday from 7PM to 11:30PM you can order online or with the CBORD GET Mobile app to pick up your order at Food on the Wing (Opening April 2015) currently located in Lloyd's Marketplace. Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars or Owl Cash are required to order from Food on the Wing.

I have specific eating requirements. I'm vegetarian or vegan, have food sensitivites and/or allergies. Do you have options for me?

Yes!  We have many options, and we add more every semester.  In fact, many items are added based on requests from students.  All of our dining locations regularly have menu options that are made with Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten Free ingredients that are clearly identified on our signage.  We also offer soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, and Lactaid as well as soy yogurt and Gluten Free bread items.  There is a dedicated Gluten Free fridge stocked for our patrons, as well as a dedicated microwave and toaster in the DC's Gluten Freedom Station, located next to Valley Vegan.

I'm not on campus all the time because of my Student Teaching/Clinical Internship. Is there a program that allows me to use my Meal Plan board meals on those days?

Yes, we have a Bagged Lunch program designed specifically for students with these needs.  Please contact Rebecca Hunt for details: rhunt@keene.edu -- 603-358-2653.

How do I eat if I'm sick or injured and can't leave my room?

You can designate someone to come to the DC on your behalf and pick up food for you.  Please see your RA or RD for details on the process.

Can I share my Meal Plan or use it for guests?

Your Meal Plan is non-transferable and may only be used by you.  All of our Meal Plans come with Bonus DC Meals that can be used for guests.  Students who have any of our Meal Plans may purchase additional Guest Meal Passes in blocks of 5 in the Owl Card Office.  Cash, Debit or Credit Card required.

Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars and Owl Cash may also be used to pay for meals for your guests at any of the Campus Dining locations.

I really like Lloyd's Marketplace and the Bean & Bagel Express, but I can't use my Meal Plan there. What can I do?

All of our Meal Plans have "Plus" options that add 175, 275, or 500 in Meal Plan Dollars to use each semester--and Lloyd's, the Bean & Bagel, and Food on the Wing are where most students with Plus Plans use their Meal Plan Dollars.  You can also use your Meal Plan Dollars in the DC, Hoot, and NOC to purchase additional meals for yourself or to treat friends or family to a meal at any of the dining locations on campus.

If you have any unused Meal Plan Dollars at the end of the fall semester, they will be added to the Meal Plan Dollars your receive with your spring Meal Plan.  You must, however, use all of your Meal Plan Dollars before the Meal Plan Contract expires at the end of the Spring Semester.

I want the flexibility but don't need $175 or more for additional cash. Is there another option?

You can add Dining Dollars or Owl Cash to your Owl Card at any time.  The minimum deposit is $25.  Dining Dollars and Owl Cash deposits may be made in the Owl Card Portal using a debit/credit card, or in person at the Owl Card Office with cash or check payable to Keene State College.  These accounts are not part of your annual Meal Plan Contract and therefore cannot be added to your tuition bill.  They will, however, remain active as long as you are affiliated with Keene State College.  This means your balances carry from semester to semester and year to year.

Can I use my Plus Plan's Meal Plan Dollars in Vending Machines?

No, but you can add Owl Cash to use in most of the snack and beverage vending machines on campus.  Owl Cash is also accepted in the Bookstore, Owl's Roost and at the Concessions Stand at KSC Home Games.  Owl Cash is also accepted at all dining locations on campus. The minimum deposit is $25.  Owl Cash balances remain active and carry from semester to semester and year to year as long as you are affiliated with Keene State.  Just use your KSC Net ID credentials at the Owl Card Portal to deposit funds.

I'm only on campus a couple of days a week and a Meal Plan is more than I need. Are there other options?

We've structured our Block Meal Plans (Gold, Silver and Bronze) to accommodate the needs of most students.  However, if the Bronze 80 Block Meal Plan's average of 5 meals per week is more than you will need, you may want to consider Dining Dollars or Owl Cash.  Both of these cash accounts are accessed with your Owl Card and funds can be added at any time online with a debit or credit card.  The minimum deposit is $25 and balances remain active as long as you are affiliated with Keene State College.  Dining Dollars deposits of $100 earn 2 Bonus DC Meals, which are applied each Friday and may be used in the Zorn Dining Commons (for the Patron or a Guest meal) at any time during the semester they are issued.

How can I tell how many Meals I have left?

Go to the Owl Card Portal and log in with your KSC NetID credentials to see a snapshot of your Meal Plan and any cash account you may have.   You can also check the details of your transactions, send a quick email home for more cash, and report your Owl Card lost and found here.  Please note, Platinum Meal Plans have unlimited Board Meal swipes for DC entry and will always show as zero in the Account Summary. You can also access this information with your mobile device by installing the free CBORD GET Mobile app, which is available in the App Store or Google Play store.

Do I need both Dining Dollars and Owl Cash? What's the difference?

This depends on your individual needs and you can certainly have both accounts.  For example, do you want to have the cash for Dining only?  Do you need cash for the Bookstore?  Vending Machines?  The minimum deposit is $25 and you can add more at any time.

Both Dining Dollars and Owl Cash are accepted at all dining locations on the Keene State College Campus: Zorn Dining Commons -- Hoot-n-Scoot -- Night Owl Cafe Sizzler -- Lloyd's Marketplace -- Bean & Bagel Express -- Food on the Wing.  Dining Dollars and Owl Cash balances remain active and carry from semester to semester and year to year as long as you are affiliated with Keene State.

Each Dining Dollar deposit of $100 earns 2 Bonus DC Meals to be used during the semester they are issued. Bonus DC Meals are applied on Fridays for deposits made during the prior (Fri-Thurs) week and may be used by the Owl Card holder or his/her guest.

Owl Cash is accepted in some additional places:  Campus Bookstore -- Owl's Roost -- Snack & Beverage Vending Machines -- and the Concessions Stand at KSC Home Games.  There is no bonus earned on Owl Cash deposits.

How do I open or add to a Dining Dollars or Owl Cash account?

There is a minimum deposit of $25 for either cash account and you may deposit additional funds at any time.  Online deposits may be done with a credit or debit card.  Just use your KSC NetID log in credentials to log on the Owl Card Portal or the CBORD GET Mobile App.  Deposits with cash or checks are accepted in person at the Owl card Office.  Once you've added the cash, it's available to you immediately with your Owl Card.

I'm a parent, family member, or friend. Can I add cash to a studnet's account?

Yes, you can!  You'll need the student's 7-digit KSC Student ID number at the Owl Card Portal.  Click on the link for Parents and Guests to proceed.  Once you receive confirmation online, you can be assured that the student will have immediate access to the funds you have deposited.

How can I get more Meal Plan Dollars?

Although it is not possible add Meal Plan Dollars to your Owl Card account, you may add Dining Dollars , which is used in the same way and at the same places as Meal Plan Dollars. Or you may add Owl Cash, which is used in all the same dining locations plus snack & beverage vending machines on campus and at the concessions stand at KSC athletic events. Dining Dollars and Owl Cash deposits may be made online with a credit or debit card at the Owl Card Portal or using the CBORD GET Mobile App (free, secure, and available for download in the App Store and Google Play Store). The Owl Card Office can take cash or check deposits only between 8AM and 4:30PM Monday through Friday during each semester.

Parents and others may deposit Dining Dollars or Owl Cash to a student's account online using the student's 7-digit KSC Student ID number at the Owl Card Portal. Click on the link for Parents and Guests to proceed. Once you receive confirmation online, you can be assured that the student will have immediate access to the funds you have deposited.

What is the difference between Meal Plan Dollars, Dining Dollars and Owl Cash?

The main difference is that Meal Plan Dollars are a set amount that is part of your meal plan each semester. Unused balances carry only from the Fall Semester and be added to your Meal Plan Dollar allotment for the Spring Semester. They will expire at the end of the academic year when your Meal Plan ends.

Dining Dollars and Owl Cash are not tied to a meal plan in any way. They are both accepted at all of the campus dining locations. Owl Cash is also accepted at snack and beverage vending machines on campus, and at the concessions stand at KSC athletic events. Dining Dollars and Owl Cash accounts to not expire. They remain on your Owl Card as long as you are affiliated with KSC--as student, faculty or staff.

Dining Dollars and Owl Cash must remain on your account until graduation, withdrawal or separation from KSC. Upon written request, balances greater than $20.00 will be refunded after a deduction of a $20 processing fee. Can a meal be provided to a group of students for a special event?
